The Manor House

Highlighting some of my favorite and frequently photographed wedding venues around Denver and Colorado. Every venue has a preferred vendor list, so why not have my own preferred vendor list from the perspective of a wedding photographer?

The Manor House, located in Ken Caryl, Colorado, is eye catching from the moment you drive through the gated entrance. This stately, historic mansion, turned wedding venue, dates back to 1914. It feels like taking a step back in time, yet still maintains a timeless, polished chic style.

The upstairs getting ready space has a vintage glam feel to it.

Getting ready suite

The red chaise lounge, the old wooden vanity, vintage hang mirror and brush, surrounded by long sheer curtains

letting light in from almost all sides. You'll feel like your glowing getting ready in this space. You can even sneak peeks out over the main entrance from a little balcony off the front of the getting ready room.

The downstairs getting ready room has a much different feel. You enter the room through a spiral staircase downstairs in the corner of the library. Being in a basement room, the walls are brick with a darker feel than the rest of the venue. It makes an excellent hideaway, ensuring no chance of the couple seeing each other before the ceremony.

Speaking of the library - this is always an excellent photo spot and often where marriage license signing takes place. The rolling ladder along the wall full of books is always a focal point and prop for wedding photos!

Guests can gather inside one of the lounging rooms, grab a drink at the bar or relax outside, taking in the views of the foothills before the ceremony. Cocktail hour often takes place a combination of indoor and outdoor enjoyment before heading into the reception hall.

I have photographed ceremonies on the front lawn, as well as the back courtyard. Both provide stunning views of the foothills, especially for sunset. The hill in front of the Manor House provides the option for the Manor House itself to be your backdrop, or various views of the foothills with vast meadows and rolling hills.

The reception hall always photographs beautifully.

Like the rest of the venue, large windows letting in lots of natural light to fill the high ceilings make this space glow. When dancing starts, there is plenty of room for those who want to dance the night away as well as for those who would like to sit and enjoy conversation all night. Many enjoy the lounge rooms or the bar for more non-dancing fun.

The Manor House in Ken Caryl makes for a convenient location for guests coming from Denver, Colorado Springs, or for those flying in from out of state. You get the beauty of the foothills without going too far from Denver.
